TAYLOR SORENSEN's interview.....
by Debbie Allen

Debbie:  You've been blessed with the gift of songwriting at such an early age,
which song of yours do you still reflect back on and why?
Taylor:   I think that I am always looking back to Gloria. It was written in about
five minutes, but its one of those that hasn't gone away and remains relevant
even now after having morphed musically over the past 5 or 6 years.

Debbie:  What was it like growing up in Adrian, Michigan?
Taylor:   Adrian is a big farming community where everyone knows everyone.
Looking back I realize how simple things were there and how close knit things
were and are there. There was never a whole lot to do there so we

(family and friends) were always looking for new things to do. We were
involved in a lot of athletics and extra-curricular activity in high school.
That helped keep us active. But, its funny going back cos everyone knows whats going on thanx to my
moms motherly tongue. Somehow though she tends to get her stories a bit confused from time to time.
Someone will mention something about what I am up to and I'll just wonder, "Where in the world did you get
that from?" Oh yeah - mom.

Debbie:   Did you come from a Christian family background?
Taylor:   Yes. Heard about Jesus from the start.

Debbie:   Where do you find your most tranquil place to write?
Taylor:   It's not so much a place as it is a spirit or mindset that sort of happens. I will just get this feeling and
know, "I need to write now." And then it all starts.

Debbie:   What lead you to sign with Rocketown?
Taylor:   Well, I just kept walking through the open doors and the door to r-town stayed open and continues
to. I tried walking through others before, but they closed somewhere along the way and it's never a good
idea to try and bang down the doors that God has His Grand Foot behind. You can try and be frustrated
or stop and walk on to the next door.

Debbie:   Was that your childhood dream to become a Christian Artist?
Taylor:   Not necessarily in those terms. I've always been pulled toward music - its effects and emotions and
I've always wanted to move people the way it moves me...to inspire. Thats been more the pull. Artists do
this and so I worked on my art and the only difference between me and you is that I am trying to make a
living with my art. Mrs. Anybody has the artist in her but she may rather aim at making a living off of her
accounting skills. But, we all have the art in us because we all have the Artists Grand Hand Print upon us.

Debbie:   Tell me about "The Free Doves."
Taylor:   We all met at college - Belmont U in Nashville. There's no real drama besides that which we make
any day in the life of us. They are a great band. They all have skills that I could never match. My wife and
I always talk about how great my band is. I really believe these guys are something special.

Debbie:   Where were you when you first heard yourself on the radio?
Taylor:   I believe I was in my car.

Debbie:   What is the significance of your jean jacket and hat?
Taylor:   Maybe it's cause they're a bit American and they keep me covered a bit. Don't really know.

Debbie:   Whose music inspires you the most?
Taylor:   I have always really been moved by Springsteen and U2.

Debbie:   Touring with the worship group Delirious? must have been an extraordinary blessing who would
you like to tour with in the future?
Taylor:    It's always tough to say. They were a great tour, but I would really like to see myself getting out into
it all. I don't think I am just made to sing to a culture but the culture so I would love to get out with any band
that is going there. From Keane to the Killers or BRMC to Ryan Adams. Why not?

Debbie:   I can so relate to what you mentioned on your website  ......"it's a love that makes these things
holy, that makes them sacred, that makes them the gospel." Whatever the Lord places on your heart to
use as a gift to minister to people is simply incredible. Aren't you amazed how God has used you?
Taylor:   I am grateful for sure.

Debbie:   Even though it was last year I must ask you how was it to sing on stage at the GMA week in the
Nashville worship service?
Taylor:   Its always good to be in the presence of the like minded. God was smiling I believe. That makes me
happy.
Debbie:   It was absolutely incredible for me and I was blessed to be in the front row twirling the umbrella for
"Rain Down" and taking an enormous amount of pictures. Well I didn't want to go overboard with too many
questions so I hope that this is sufficient for you. God is so wonderful!!! I really appreciate your
time. May the spirit of the Lord fill you Taylor and bless you for your obedience to
him. He is worthy to be praised!!!!
